Ten Tips for Dressing Like Hermione
Here it is! Ten Tips for Dressing Like Hermione!
1.You always want to look neat and put together, but not like you spent a lot of money or time on your outfit. Hermione does care about how she looks, but to a certain extent. She wouldn't spend $100 on a pretty top or take an hour deciding what shoes go a best with a certain dress.
2. Wear something that is comfortable, but not too ragged or casual. An example would be wearing sweats or an old worn out t-shirt. It may be comfortable, but it needs to be neat looking.
3. On the flip side, don't dress too fancy. The occasional skirt or t-shirt dress is okay, but don't do it every day (unless it is your uniform/dress code) and stay away from fancy dresses and high heels (at least to school or a non-formal event).
4. Always wear something clean. It's okay to sometimes take a shirt out of the hamper, as long as it isn't stained or smelly. But if you're pulling it out for the fourth time since you've washed it, either you need to wash your laundry (because you have nothing clean to wear) or you simply need to wear something else.
5. Dress for the weather. In the movies, you often see Hermione wearing a sweater and jeans. That is because it is in Scotland (where it is rather chilly) and takes place during the school year (not summer). If it is summer, wear plain fitted tees and bermuda shorts and capris.
6. Be practical about what you wear. This goes along with not spending too much money on clothes, wearing things that are comfortable, and dressing for the weather. It's just very important. Hermione is a practical person.
7. Don't be afraid to shop at thrift stores and garage sales. Everything is much cheaper there, and it is environmentally friendly. Hand-me-downs are good too, and even better, free! If the thought of wearing other people's old clothes scares you, try places like Marshall's, Zappo's (a website), and 6pm (also a website). They take other store's overstock (when they order too much and don't need it all) and sell it for a discounted price.
8. Dress to impress yourself, not to impress other people. So what if a kid at school doesn't like your shirt? You do, and that's what matters.
9. Dress modestly. Don't wear crop tops or spaghetti straps. Make sure your shorts and skirts are at least fingertip length. Don't wear anything super body tight. Hermione does not show off her body.
10. Be yourself! It doesn't matter if your shoes or shirt or whatever go against all the latest trends. It's comfortable and you like it, so keep your head high like you don't even notice.

More Hermione Wardrobe Essentials
My picture didn't include everything you'd need for a Hermione inspired wardrobe, so here is the full list. Soon I will post my Top Ten Tips on dressing like Hermione.
1. At least four cozy sweaters. Sweaters are like Hermione's trademark, they can be casual or fancy and if you watch the movies, she wears them all the time, in all eight.
2. Several plain t-shirts. She never wears them in the movies, but for warmer weather, plain t-shirts are great. They are also great for layering.
3. A few camis/tank tops. Again, for layering, but only for layering. A tank top is not something Hermione would wear.
4. Some blouses/button ups. Peasant blouses, ruffled blouses, polos, anything is good.
5. Skirts. These are more for a younger Hermione, she wears them only in the first two movies (excluding school uniform), but skirts are a very Hermione-like thing. Hermione wants to look neat, but not too fancy, which is very achievable with a tee or sweater and a skirt.
6. At least one nice pair of flats. These can be for special or formal occasions, or everyday wear (although when she is older Hermione wears high heels for both the Yule Ball and Bill and Fleur's wedding). Try to get them in neutral colors, like black, brown, and grey. It is really up to you, but glitz and bright colors are not really Hermione's thing.
7. Always wear boot-cut and straight leg jeans. Jeggings, super skinny jeans, and flare/bell bottom jeans are not very Hermione. Also, keep it normal blue denim. No colored denim (except maybe white). Try to get mostly dark wash. They tend to look neater.
8. Hermione wears khakis occasionally, too.
9. A couple dresses. These are useful if you go to church. They can be casual school dresses, or fancier if a formal event pops up.
10. One plaid flannel shirt, or more. Good for camping, and very comfortable.
11. Boots. Brown is the best color, although it is up to you. Again, stay away from bright colors and glitz. Like I said, brown is best (it's the color that Hermione always wears in the movies), but black and grey are okay too.
12. A denim jacket. Again, stick to dark wash.
13. A comfy hoodie. For cooler weather and just chillaxing at home.
14. During the summer, always wear bermuda shorts. Hermione is not really the sort of person to wear short shorts.
15. Capris are another option for the summer.
16. You will want some good sneakers. For casual, wear Converse and Keds. Those are brand names though, which can be expensive, so try to get them on sale, used, or knock-offs are okay. You may also need a separate pair of athletic shoes.
17. For pajamas, wear nightgowns (old-fashioned style ones are great) or a fitted (but not body-tight) t-shirt with pajama pants or shorts.
18. Wear trench or pea coats.
Hermione's school uniform is a whole separate thing. Here is the complete list. This is good if you dress up as Hermione for Halloween, or maybe you want to change your school uniform to look more like hers.
1. A Gryffindor robe-you probably couldn't wear this to school, but you could on Halloween.
2. A white collared button up-get a girl's uniform one, or a boy's dress shirt works well.
3. A v-neck pullover or cardigan- In the first two movies, this is grey, in the rest, it is black. The cardigan is also only worn in movies 3-8.
4. A Gryffindor tie- this also varies depending on the movie. In the first two, the scarlet and gold stripes are even, in the rest, the tie is scarlet with repeating thin gold stripes.
5. A pleated skirt-this also varies grey or black the same as the sweater.
6. Knee socks or tights-grey knee socks in the first two films (although these can be hard to find and expensive, so white works too) or black tights in the rest.
7. Black Mary Janes-any pair works, but the in the first two they are chunkier (because she is younger) and in the others they are more sleek. Black flats work too.
Here are some stores I recommend for the clothes and uniform:
-Target
-Old Navy
-Forever 21
-Zappos-zappos.com
-6pm-6pm.com
-Marshalls
-Amazon-amazon.com
-The Warner Bros shop-wbshop.com

Ten Tips
I have a lot of ideas that you can't find elsewhere, so I thought I'd post a few of them along with a couple others in the form of Ten Tips.
1. Read the books and watch the movies. They will help you get an overview of her character. The movies will give you a visual, while the books are the original stuff. Take mental notes on how Hermione acts.
2. Love school. It may seem hard, but it is essential to her character and also something I have learned to do. Think of it this way: you're already there, so why not make the most of it? If you have to go anyway, there's no point in wasting it.
3. Talk like Hermione. I know it sounds silly, but seriously, it helps. First of all, if you don't already have a British accent, don't fake one. That's just weird. What I mean is don't swear or anything like that, and throw a couple of wizarding phrases in, like "Merlin's pants!"
4. Dress like Hermione. I will soon update this and give ten tips on how dress like her, but for now I have to keep it short. Dress neat, not too casual and not too fancy. Make sure what you are wearing is comfortable and easy to move in, but not ragged or worn out.
5. READ. It is the most important (and most obvious) thing you can do. It expands your general knowledge, which is always good. Read all sorts of topics and genres, including and especially nonfiction. If you get textbooks for school, read a few chapters ahead at home every night so you will already know everything the next day.
6. Go to bed and wake up on time. Your body needs at least 8 hours of sleep. Don't achieve that by going to bed at 2 in the morning and waking up at 10, go to bed and get up early. It is better for you and makes it easier to get up when you have school.
7. Don't use text abbreviations. They make you look not as smart as you actually are, and if you do it too much, uneducated. Worse yet, they can start to slip in to everyday life. You don't want to get a bad grade because your essay was filled with u's and lol's. Not worth it, and there's a simple solution: just don't.
8. Don't be afraid to be yourself. The popular kids who don't care about school won't have a good job in 20 years, but you will as long as you stay away from them and focus on getting good grades. Hermione is a nerd, and you should be too.
9. Keep a clean room. Organize all your stuff into bins, and every so often get rid of junk you don't need anymore. After you are done using something, put it away as soon as possible. Also, make your bed every morning. Very important stuff.
10. Value friendship and family above everything else. Be willing to make sacrifices for the ones you love. In the Deathly Hallows, Hermione modifies her parents' memories for their own safety. They go above everything, even school. (which comes in a close second)
Happy Hermione-ing!!!

Basic Articles
Welcome!
Hi! Welcome to my blog! I am going to start with just an overview. I think many people would like to be the clever, smart, bossy, know-it-all bookworm that Hermione is. (A group that includes ME) My objective is to help you do that. I have many resources, from the Harry Potter books, to websites that I found by Google search. My first question is, how did you come across this website? Do I know you personally, and told you about it? Did you come across it in a Google search? Something else? Please comment and tell me!
